Redeeming Childbirth giveaway!

Today I get to give away a copy of the beautiful book by Angie Tolpin that I reviewed last week: Redeeming Childbirth.  It’s a book about childbirth, yes, but also about so much more: mentoring, unity between sisters in Christ, and leaving a legacy to our children.  You don’t want to miss this opportunity to have your own copy!

“Judging is never fulfilling. What is fulfilling though, is women speaking truth and encouraging other women. What is fulfilling is older, more experienced women sharing their ideas and visions with younger women to give hope, permission to dream, and a bridge to Jesus where He can guide them in their decision-making.” (Redeeming Childbirth)

Come enter a #giveaway for an autographed copy of #RedeemingChildbirth! http://gretchenlouise.com/?p=8903

(Feed readers, you may need to come straight to the blog to find the entry form.)

“Faith is not just taught; it is caught. If you want your children’s hearts to follow after the Lord, wherever He leads them in life, then your heart needs to follow after the Lord.” (Redeeming Childbirth)

  1. The most encouraging thing someone has told this expectant mom is that I won’t really realize how strong I really am until that time and nothing in the world can truly prepare me for the incredible journey it is.

    • Holly, it is so true that no other experience is quite like childbirth, and each birth is so different and special. Though you may not fully understand exactly what you are personally going to experience in life, or in childbirth, studying scripture, preparing for the universal temptations we all struggle with (fear, anxiety, doubt, etc) can be extremely fruitful! Inviting Jesus to be present and your main “focal point” can be what makes your experience a spiritual milestone! God Bless Sister.

  2. Rebekah B. says:

As a first-time Mom due here in 2 months, I’d love to win this book. :)

  3. One of the best things anyone’s ever told me about childbirth was near the end of one of my labors (when it was getting really tough) my midwife said something along the lines of “you can do this, your body was created to do this”.

  4. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book and I’d love to read it!

  5. The most encouraging thing someone has said about child birth was that I was a really good pusher!!! About an average of 3-5 pushes on each of my three deliveries! Also, that the drugs are good, mama likes the good drugs!!

  6. As a labor doula and student midwife I would love to read this and then add to my library for clients:)

  7. The most helpful has been to show how the body was made to give birth and how wonderfully all of the parts fit together to make it happen.

  8. The most encouraging words a friend shared with me about childbirth was that childbirth is the most amazingly spiritual experiance I will ever have, giving birth to my children. This is something to look forward to, not fear!

  9. Kristen E. says:

The most important thing I learned is that it doesn’t matter how your babies come into the world, as long as they are healthy and safe.

  10. The most encouraging things that has every been shared with me about childbirth was that we were made to do this. Our bodies were fearfully and wonderfully made-perfectly designed for this task!

  11. Beth Stabley says:

The most encouraging & helpful advice I had about childbirth was to not listen to everyone else’s birth stories & advice. :)

  12. Lynell Kuhn says:

I would love to win this!

  13. I can’t wait to give this to my midwife friends!

  14. Oops most encouraging thing…you’re almost done!

  15. “God made you to do this!”
and when the nurses running the pre-birth classes discouraged us from hoping for a perfect birth, but to expect one of our worst case scenarios. This began me thinking… where is the hope in that? We should be able to dream, pray and ask for God to be in control… not expect the worst or live in fear.

  16. Julianne Rinard says:

They will come in their own time….I had one come 3 weeks early, another couple were 3 weeks later and then everywhere in between :-)

  17. My midwife is an amazing lady and has been such an encouragement to me MANY times in the five years I have known her. Some of the best advice she has given me is to reject fear and stress, especially during childbirth. I am a high strung girl, so her gentle, peaceful presence means a lot!

At nearly 30 weeks along with our 5th child, I would LOVE to own a copy of this book!

  18. As a doula & childbirth educator I am SO excited that there is finally a Biblically-based book on childbirth to recommend to expectant parents. Definitely looking forward to reading this book.

  19. I had an awful pregnancy that finished with a nightmare birth with our daughter, and I am terrified of doing it again. Would love to read this book and see birth from a different perspective.

  20. We are 21 weeks with baby number 2! The most encouraging thing to me was a mom and sister who had gone before me – if they could do it, I knew I could do it.

  21. The most encouraging things I’ve heard/read about childbirth were:
My body is not a ‘lemon’, to think of contractions as ‘waves’ or ‘surges’, and most everything in the book Ina Gaskin’s Guide to Childbirth (which I found supremely encouraging while I was expecting baby #5 – so it wasn’t as if I was new to the birthing scene).
I have seven kids now, and I’m anxious to read all of Redeeming Childbirth, even if I birth no more children.

  22. I’ve had one baby, and heard so many conflicting things while pregnant, but the most encouraging thing was probably not a comment, but just the quiet example of my mom, and other mothers, who accepted each birth as individual, each woman’s needs as unique, and refused to put birth in a box of do’s and don’ts. Also, my mother frequently reminded me that, “When you feel like you can’t take anymore, you really don’t have much left to take.” That was a nice thing to remember during transition! I would LOVE to read Redeeming Childbirth, and see if it offers some good support for my next baby.

  23. I was married this august and am now 6wks pregnant! I would love to read this book! So far my husbands love and concern for our baby has been the most encouraging thing for me…. i’m sure there’s more to come! ;-)

  24. Shannon Bomberger says:

As a Christian Midwife I would LOVE to have a copy of this book to share with the woman I serve.

  25. Shannon Bomberger says:

And I just realized that I didn’t answer the question:). HaHa pregnancy brain. The most important info I think would be to trust the the Lord has created your body to birth your baby and that you can!

  26. Six months pregnant with my first, so I don’t have hindsight to look back on to decide what the most encouraging bit of advice I’ve received has been. What I am appreciating most so far is the reminders that God is in control and my constant “What if’s” are not going to change what he has planned. I’d love to have a copy of this book to read during my early morning bouts of insomnia!

  27. “Every contraction is one contraction closer to seeing your baby and you never have to have that contraction again!” (I wish I could remember where I saw this!)

My grandmother said during labor she kept thinking “I need to help this baby be born!”

Those are the two things I kept thinking during my last labor (in addition to lots of prayer!) :)
