I want to be a child again
I love children’s books.
I just finished going through my latest GoodWill finds, replacing the price tag with a sticker that says “from the library of Gretchen Louise,” and added them to my bookshelves. A full bookshelf is one of the most beautiful things in the world. And even though my bookshelves are overflowing, I haven’t stopped buying books yet!
My newest genre of collection is children’s books. When my mother informed me that I couldn’t take all our books with me when I leave home, I realized that I should keep my eye out for all those favorite books I read as a child. And I’ve found lots!
The Little Golden Books are so much fun. I dig through the Disney ones to find the good old classics, like the one about Tootle the train. I discovered the most adorable little books of Beatrix Potter stories, and a Winnie the Pooh Treasury in the same size. And I am thrilled whenever I see a book with illustrations by Eloise Wilkin. My favorite was always My Goodnight Book.
My younger siblings have been enjoying my finds. And I look forward to reading them to my own children someday. But for now, I think I want to be a children again myself. Life was so much easier when viewed from behind a Little Golden Book about Winnie the Pooh…
