I Love You No Matter What

“Far away, in Skinny Tree Kingdom, Prince Chirpio had always liked being royalty…”

So begins the tale of Prince Chirpio, a parable of the parable of the prodigal son.

I Love You No Matter What

Little Blue was having a bad day.  He was sure Daddy Blue must not love him anymore, so he decided to leave the big oak tree for good.

But that’s when Daddy Blue sat him down to tell him the tale of Prince Chirpio.

My three little birdies listened in rapt attention to the tale I Love You No Matter What, written and illustrated by J. Rutland.

I Love You No Matter What

Prince Chirpio sets off on his own with his big bag of birdseed over his shoulder.  But when he meets someone who offers to make him a chocolate birdseed pie in exchange for some birdseed, the tired, hungry bird quickly agrees.

With bird language and birdseed, the age-old story of the prodigal son is told in a simple but memorable way for little ones.  And like the story of the prodigal son, this tale, too, ends happily:

Daddy Blue hugged his little bird…  “I will always love you, Little Blue…no matter what.”

  1. I try to spend one-on-one time with each just prior to bedtime. I still rock my five-year-old ‘baby,’ I recite a poem with my princess and rub my little man’s back. We would enjoy the book – thank you!

  2. Super excited to read this to my little girls. Even if I don’t win it looks like a good one to purchase!
