Oh, RuRu!
RuRu girl,
You amaze us. You’re always coming up with something new.
The birdies outside your window? “Thewyre sayin’ ‘we wuv you Wuth Ann'”.
You are thrilled by your new bird feeder that you can see from your bedroom window. If you and Daddy saw a black bird that morning, then every bird is a black bird. If Daddy’s head is in the way at lunch, we have to move him or your high chair, because “I can’t see the bird feeder.”
You are such good friends with your little sister. “I ‘ove my sissy so much. She’s my best fwiend.”
Jesus is also your best friend. As is Oofie the kitty cat. Wooster, too, you claim as your best friend—despite the fact we haven’t seen him in months. He was always your favorite, since you put up with him. When Oofie hurt his leg and was gone for a few days, you really missed both of them. Thankfully, Oofie came back. Because “Oofie’s my best fwiend.”
You were impatiently waiting for me to turn on your favorite cassette tape: a Precious Moments tape from my childhood, called “Sharing Time.” You ask for it over and over again. I was changing sissy’s diaper, and without thinking told you, “Hold on to your horses.”
You picked up your toy horses from under your bed and exclaimed, “Two hosses, Mommy!”
You walked in the room the other day and announced, “I’m a little rain cloud.” Obviously, you’d been listening to a Pooh tape again.
“Jesus died for me, Mamma.” You state the essential truths of the Bible with such ease of belief. “God made my ‘etters [letter magnets], Momma.”
While arranging your letter magnets: “I make Buth. I make my name, Momma!”
Every word you see is your name. “The cookie jar has my name on it!”
Or someone else’s name, perhaps, if they are wearing it. “Your g[l]asses have your name on ’em, Momma.”
Except, of course, John Deere shirts. You somehow know that they “have a John Deere on it.”
“I ‘ove my chickens, Momma.” You spend hours watching them. Just when they became your chickens, we’re not quite sure. But you “‘ove them so much.”
When you get undressed for your shower, you announce, “I have some no cwothes on!”
And when the water and your hair cover your eyes in the shower, you get all worried, saying “Where’s me? Oh Mommy, where’s me?”
We’re not sure where the “Oh, Mommy!” and “Oh, Daddy!” have come from, but our names are frequently preceded by “Oh!”
Oh, RuRu! We love you.
Always,
your mommy
How Precious! Oh, the joys of listening to a young child’s chatter! They do come up with some sweet sayings! Good thing you are writing them down. There will be days when you want some peace and quiet instead of so much talking so just ENJOY your sweeties!
Too adorable!! They can be a handful at times, but really, how blissful and amazing it is to be a mother and witness the wonders of childhood every day. I love it so much.
